Our Story
Chatterton Rees is an independently owned agency, founded by Ed Bezzant, who began his career in property in 2010. Having lived and breathed the industry ever since, Ed recognised that the market had changed considerably over the years, while traditional agencies remained largely stagnant.
Founded by Ed Bezzant in 2016, Chatterton Rees was created as a deeply personal tribute as much as a professional venture. The name honours Ed’s mother’s parents, who sadly passed away when she was a teenager, a loss that shaped her life and, in turn, Ed’s own values. Family has always been central to Ed, and his close relationship with his mother made it important that the business carried a name rooted in meaning and legacy.
Chatterton is taken from her father, Edward Chatterton, after whom Ed himself was named, while Rees comes from her mother, Dorothy Rees. Together, the name represents continuity, respect, and responsibility — principles that underpin every aspect of the firm.
Chatterton Rees opened its first office in 2016 on Pont Street, SW1X, in the heart of Prime Central London. In 2024, the business relocated to its flagship office on Cadogan Street, further strengthening its coverage of London’s most sought-after neighbourhoods. That same year marked an important milestone with the international expansion into the United States and the launch of the San Francisco branch, led by former London Area Manager Perry Bagwell, which quickly completed a number of significant transactions.
We pride ourselves on deep local market knowledge and a proactive, dynamic approach to both sales and lettings. Our Cadogan Street office now acts as the central hub of the business, allowing us to seamlessly connect Prime Central and South West London. With buyers and tenants often moving fluidly between areas, this structure enables intelligent cross-selling and a deep understanding of each market and its cycles, ensuring the strongest possible results for our clients.
In 2018, Chatterton Rees opened its Parsons Green office, covering SW6, W14 and W6, with natural expansion into Putney, Battersea and Clapham. By 2021, the business expanded beyond the capital with the opening of its Sunningdale office, handling a wide range of country properties from first homes to grand estates, equestrian properties, polo farms and landmark residences.
The majority of our business is generated through referrals — a reflection of the trust we build and the care we take with every instruction. Our clients remain at the heart of everything we do, and we believe that outstanding service comes from leaving no stone unturned.
Today, Chatterton Rees is one of very few independent agents with a bona fide international reach while remaining fully independent, combining global access with a personalised, hands-on approach that larger networks simply cannot match.
